Kathy Burns is Chief Digital Officer for Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) and Chief Executive Officer of The Connector, RSG’s automated small commercial platform. With over 25 years’ experience in the risk and insurance technology space, Kathy is focused on creating client-enabling technologies that contribute to RSG’s growth and success.

Prior to joining RSG, Kathy was CEO and Corporate Director of Ventiv Technology (formally Aon eSolutions), a leader in claims and risk management software. Kathy strategically led Aon eSolutions – and subsequent Ventiv Technology – through rapid year-over-year revenue growth. As a result of Kathy’s leadership, eSolutions won Aon’s prestigious “Business of the Year” award in 2013.

Prior to her role at Aon, Kathy was COO of Client Operations for Marsh’s CS STARS business unit (now Marsh ClearSight). Kathy began her career as an account executive at Risk Sciences Group.

Kathy has a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University. She was a recipient of Business Insurance’s inaugural “Women to Watch” award in 2006.

Matteo is Founder and Director of the IoT Insurance Observatory, Global InsurTech Thought Leader and Investor.

He is internationally recognized as an insurance industry strategist with a specialization on innovation. Matteo is author and world-renowned authority on InsurTech - ranked among top international InsurTech Influencers - and he has spoken to audiences in twenty different countries. He published the first book dedicated to insurtech: “All the insurance players will be insurtech”.

Matteo has advised more than 100 different players in ten markets around the world and has wide insurance experience which includes set up of industrial and commercial plans, growth strategy definition and support in the start-up of new initiatives, digital strategy development, insurance products innovation, channel strategy and commercial model definition, startups mentorship and advice M&A deals.

Before creating the IoT Insurance Observatory, he spent eleven years in Bain & Company’s Financial Service practice.  

Matteo received his degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University, Milan.

Anand Dhillon

Anand is responsible for technical development as well as implementing the technical strategy at Cover. He is a full-stack developer and software engineer proficient in Java, Ruby, Python, C++, all front-end languages, and the web development framework Ruby on Rails. He has been building professional-grade products for 6 years and has been a hobbyist programmer for 12 years. In the past, Anand worked as CTO at Stylekick, and then Technical Lead for Android Development at Shopify as part of his own mobile unit.

Anand holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto where he graduated with High Distinction. He is a Y Combinator Fellow, and YC Alumnus.


Kevin Leslie
Vice President, Marketing, Insurance, Equifax Inc.

Kevin Leslie is the Insurance Strategic Marketing Officer at Equifax.  Naturally curious, he possesses a strong desire to help Insurers continue their transformation journey through the effective use of data, analytics and insights.  Kevin’s career spans stints in Insurance and Telecommunication, gaining expertise in the areas of Business Development, Strategy, Marketing and Analytics.  While Marketing is his day job, Kevin welcomes opportunities to bike, kayak and wield a Nikon, patiently chasing the next Ansel (wink)… accompanied by his wife and dogs (along with commensurate ball tossing, for good measure).


Maura McGuigan

Associate Director, Credit Rating Criteria, A.M. Best

Maura McGuigan is an Associate Director on the Credit Rating Criteria team at AM Best. In her role, Maura is responsible for the application, maintenance and review of Best’s Credit Rating Methodology (BRM) and the related criteria procedures within rating analytics, as well as for the development of new criteria.

Prior to joining AM Best in 2016, Maura spent over 25 years at various credit rating agencies. Maura was a Vice President/Senior Credit Officer in the Public Finance Housing Department at Moody’s Investors Service for 13 years and she also worked at FitchRatings as a Senior Director for over 10 years managing the Public Finance Housing Group. In these roles Maura was responsible for rating activity and research on mortgage backed securities, as well as the development of housing related rating criteria. She also served as rating committee chair for various sectors within the public finance industry.

Maura has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Delaware majoring in International Relations.


Jeroen Morrenhof
CEO, FRISS

With a background in both computer science and business administration, Jeroen Morrenhof worked as a management consultant in the insurance industry before co-founding FRISS together with Christian van Leeuwen. Jeroen is extremely happy to work with a great group of people to provide an innovative SaaS solution in the insurtech space.

FRISS supports insurers’ efforts to:

- Generate profitable growth with an effective and efficient underwriting risk score
- Prevent and detect fraudulent claims and therefore reduce loss ratio
- Support an effective investigation process
- Facilitate the sharing of fraudsters between insurers

As CEO of the company, Jeroen feels privileged to lead FRISS in fulfilling its mission: “To make insurance more honest” because of a belief that fraud undermines the trust that is the foundation of insurance.


Harish Neelamana

Harish is the Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of DataCubes Inc. Our d3 CORETM data science platform has enabled carriers to rapidly adopt new distribution models, digital customer experience, and gain significant operating efficiencies. He has over 15 years of strategy and operations experience in the insurance industry, including stints at Zurich Insurance Group, Allstate and the Boston Consulting Group. He holds a Bachelors of Technology in Civil Engineering, and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.


Martha Notaras

Partner, XL Innovate

Martha Notaras is a Partner at venture capital firm, XL Innovate, investing in insurtech, including startups focused on data & analytics and new business models. XL Innovate’s investments include Lemonade, Embroker, New Energy Risk, Notion, Cape Analytics, Slice Labs and Stonestep. Martha is a board member at Notion, an IoT home awareness solution provider working closely with insurance companies, and a board observer at Cape Analytics, a machine learning company focused on property data.

Previously, Martha ran corporate development for DMG Information, the business data and analytics division of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc.  Of the 20 investments she made at DMG Information, two achieved valuations over $1 billion. She has served as board director for many early and growth stage companies, including 10 years on the board of Risk Management Solutions, which provides catastrophe models to the insurance industry. Her prior experience includes investment banking at Merrill Lynch and commercial banking at Credit Suisse. She received her A.B. cum laude from Princeton University and her MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar, awarded for graduating in the top five percent of the class.


Andrew Robinson 

Co-CEO, Groundspeed Analytics

Andrew is co-CEO of Groundspeed Analytics, an AI company dedicated to automating core processes and providing powerful predictive analytics to its commercial insurance carrier and broker customers. Groundspeed unlocks the value of unstructured information such as loss runs, exposure schedules and policy data to improve margins, identify profit pools, and improve its clients‘ customer experience. Andrew is also a Senior Advisor for Fintech at Oak HC/FT, a venture growth equity investor. Previously, Andrew was president of Specialty Insurance ($1BN division), EVP Corporate Development and chief risk officer for The Hanover Insurance Group, a $5 billion market cap international carrier, and was global chief operating officer and EVP for Crawford & Company overseeing Crawford‘s four businesses with revenues of $1.1 billion and 8,000 employees. Earlier in his career, Andrew was Managing Director of Global Insurance at PwC (Diamond) Consulting.  Andrew serves on the boards of Clara Analytics and PLNAR, two AI SaaS technology companies.  Andrew previously served on the board of Chaucer Plc (top 10 Lloyds of London Managing Agency) and Breckenridge Insurance Services (now owned by Berkley).


Patrick G. Ryan

Chairman & CEO, Ryan Specialty Group

A widely respected entrepreneur and global insurance leader, Patrick G. Ryan formed Ryan Specialty Group, LLC (RSG) in 2010. RSG is an international holding company which includes wholesale brokerage, highly specialized underwriting companies and specialty services designed for brokers, agents and insurers. The company has offices across North America and Europe. Prior to launching RSG, Mr. Ryan founded Aon Corporation and served as its Chairman and CEO for 41 years. At Mr. Ryan’s retirement, Aon had more than 500 offices in 120 countries, generating revenues then in excess of $7 billion.

Mr. Ryan has received a number of accolades throughout his career. In 1987, Mr. Ryan received the esteemed Horatio Alger Award which honors those who are dedicated to the principles of integrity, hard work, perseverance and compassion for others. In 2008, Mr. Ryan was inducted in to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honorary societies and independent research centers, founded in 1780. Also in 2008, he was elected to the International Insurance Society Hall of Fame and received the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. He was named by Brigham Young University International Executive of the Year for Corporate Integrity. Other career tributes include Insurance Leader of the Year from St. John’s University, and the Insurance Federation of New York's Free Enterprise Award.

Mr. Ryan has been a member of the Northwestern University’s Board of Trustees for 38 years, 14 years of which he served as Chairman. In 2009, Northwestern awarded Mr. Ryan a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Also that year, Mr. Ryan was inducted that year into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame. Four years later in 2013, Mr. Ryan received the Northwestern Alumni Association Medal of Honor. This award is the highest award granted by the Northwestern Alumni Association to an alumnus/a who combines superior professional distinction and/or exemplary volunteer service to society, with an outstanding record of service to Northwestern.

Mr. Ryan has received numerous Insurance and Community awards and also served as Chairman of the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Committee.


Sunit Shah
Founder & CEO, Soteris, Inc.

Dr. Shah is the Founder & CEO of Soteris, Inc.  He entered the insurance industry in 2005, spending six years building pricing models for life, before joining the $16 billion hedge fund firm Pine River Capital Management in 2013, where he was the second-in-command on the macro and commodities trading team.  While there, he spent two years building a reinsurance company from the ground up.  Dr. Shah has authored two books, the Wiley textbook Behavioral Finance (co-written with Ed Burton) and The Principal-Agent Problem in Finance, based on his research into the effects of psychological biases and incentive structures on people's decisions.  He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, and was awarded his own course to teach in his third graduate year there, at the age of 22.  Prior experience includes the Boston Consulting Group and adjunct faculty positions at the University of Virginia.


Jamie Yoder
President, Snapsheet Inc.

Jamie Yoder is a global executive who has been at the forefront of insurance and technology for nearly three decades. He is a well-respected expert at advising and leading global clients in the insurance and financial services industries on strategy through transformation. As President of Snapsheet he leads go to market activities across all business lines, including digital engagement and claims management, virtual appraisals, fleet and rental management, and payments.

Prior to Snapsheet, Yoder served as PwC’s Insurance Advisory Leader – advising clients on a range of management issues, including business design and transformation initiatives such as growth, operational and IT strategy, organization and operating model design and change, digital, innovation, customer experience, and information and analytics. In addition, he led the global research program on the Future of Insurance. Before PwC, Yoder also led the Insurance Practice and served on the management committee at Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, which was acquired by PwC in 2010.

Jamie has a bachelor's degree in computer science with minors in math and business from Indiana University Bloomington.

Yoder is a frequent speaker on a range of topics, including digital, InsureTech, operational strategies and model design. He is a frequent contributor to highly respected publications, including Bloomberg, WSJ, Best's Review, Business Insurance and Risk & Insurance.
